Outdated political systems are unknowingly guided by the overwhelming postulate that a system that would allow most of us to live comfortably is not possible. That the only economy possible is the market economy, its mass production and its pure profit ridden mechanisms with corrupted financial networks. Extremist movements are themselves motivated by the other prejudices that minorities are those who subtract well-being from their lives and their privileges. It is the underlying subconsciousness of certain ideologies. In fact, while we live in a world where there is enough for everyone to prosper and live comfortably, it is the idea that austerity, or privileges, or equality from the bottom may be the only remedies for society. We end up living in a world where we could all thrive and instead, the majority only survives in an economy that wastes in a seemingly absurd way.
The pandemic has been the catalyst of Civil disorder. Lack of culture, weak educational system as well as corrupted health make some leading nation it even harder to live in and more dangerous to the world order. This recipe is knowingly stirred up and manipulated by some governments.
Connected with the old structures of political and economical power, the recent events still do not have any government pull the alarm on the necessity to drastically change the system that underlines the economy. Lack of competence and skill inside political spheres have been demonstrated daily but general conditioning to modern economy values is engrained and still dictates the response to the pandemic.
More than ever, disorganized events occurring since the beginning of the outbreak show how old school politicians do not handle the pandemic threat properly.
It is probably the first time in history that politicians will be judged on their ability to play their part, use their power for the right purpose, the well being of nations, that purpose not being influenced by immaturity or inability to govern, and driven by reelection agendas. It is the propensity to handle such a powerful function that represents what a politician should be. Power, to be constructive, has to be handled with expertise, wisdom, qualifications, and responsibility as a human being. It is the expertise given to the right governing bodies -in science concerning the pandemic- that will determine right now a bearable future and survival for our societies in the next 10 years.
